SOMATIC TRACKING MEDITATIONS TO UNLEARN PAIN, FATIGUE, AND OTHER SYMPTOMS

Somatic tracking is a type of mindfulness that involves noticing the direct sensations in the body combined with “safety reappraisal,” where you teach your brain that unpleasant pain or fatigue signals are safe—that they’re a “false alarm” much like a smoke alarm going off when there’s no fire—and they’re not a sign of danger.

Studies show that 90% of people with chronic pain do not have permanent structural damage in their bodies that explains their pain. Even so, a proper mind-body medical assessment is necessary for every individual to rule out structural damage, and then to begin shifting beliefs that have often been ingrained by months of incorrect messages from other doctors and clinicians.

At Mind-Body Insight, we help people make correct assessments. These guided somatic tracking exercises and meditations are best used after a proper customized assessment has been done for you.

GUIDED MINDFUL WALKING MEDITATION

Mindful walking meditation can be a key part of chronic pain recovery. As you begin to retrain the brain to be less reactive to painful or unpleasant sensations while sitting, you can also retrain the brain while walking.

In order for walking meditation to help you heal chronic pain, combine awareness of the body walking with an understanding that the unpleasant sensations and the body itself are fundamentally healthy and safe.
